Dr. Nils Lang – Investment Manager
As an Investment Manager at HTGF, Nils specializes in two key sectors: Industrial Technology and Renewable Energy. His passion is centered around driving innovations in fields such as industrial digitization, data analytics, embedded systems, cybersecurity, and sustainable energy solutions.
Nils’ investment portfolio reflects his specialized focus in these sectors. It features companies like Ze Energy, which is revolutionizing photovoltaic parks with intelligent battery storage solutions, Refuel Green, which is pioneering plasma catalysis technology to produce green hydrocarbons, Emproof, which offers robust security solutions for embedded devices, or Senodis, which is advancing part identification for industries like metal forming, and ceramic circuit boards.
Before joining HTGF, Nils held various positions in management consulting (digital transformation and operational excellence focusing on a client-centric approach). He holds a dual degree in Engineering and Business (TU Darmstadt), and a PhD in Venture Capital (Lyon University, jointly with Berkeley Law School and HTGF).
Efrain Arturo Morote Casanova – Controller
Efrain works as a controller at HTGF. After his studies, he gained experience in a management consultancy focusing on finance, controlling and IT. He continuously applied his knowledge as an operational manager in an IT company.
Dr. Anne Umbach – Investment Manager
Since obtaining her doctorate in physical chemistry, Anne Umbach has been involved with new technologies at both the academic and industrial levels. After leading an interdisciplinary research group at the University of Cologne, she moved to Philips in Aachen as a development engineer. From 2015, she was employed in a leading position at the COPT Center for Organic Electronics in Cologne; initially as scientific and technical manager, later she took over the overall management. In addition to conducting R&D projects, the center offered consulting, technology space, and an open device platform for tech startups. The close collaboration with start-ups formed in Anne the thought to move into direct start-up funding and to support them with her experience from process and product development as well as her network and knowledge regarding sustainability / circular economy.

Graylog Secures $39 Million Investment to Accelerate Growth and Security Product Line Expansion
HOUSTON — Oct. 31, 2023 — Graylog, the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and log management company, announced that it has secured $39 million in funding to help continue its significant growth momentum. Hanna Sasse – Junior Analyst
Hanna joined the Digital Tech Investment Team in February 2024. After completing her Master’s degree in International Economics, she worked as a Founder’s Associate in the operational and strategic scaling of an HR tech startup. During her studies, she built up her know-how in business development and strategy at several startups, a consulting company and a VC. In particular, she deepened her knowledge in fundraising by working on a seed as well as a Series B financing round for a food-tech startup and crowdfunding a social startup. In her spare time, Hanna can often be found at a HIT sports class or in an art gallery, if she hasn’t ended up in a café.
Hannah Kamm – Junior Analyst
After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at ETH Zurich, Hannah gained practical experience at the Roche Innovation Center Zurich. During her Master’s degree in Process Engineering, she continued to work at Roche and expanded her knowledge through several research projects in Stockholm and Zurich. The last months Hannah supported the team of a tax consultancy firm to broaden her economic thinking. Outside of work, she volunteers at the Münchner Tafel e.V., plays volleyball and hikes in the mountains. Inspired by the entrepreneurial and innovative environment during her studies, she is now looking forward to her time in the HTGF’s Industrial Tech team.
